			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div><font color="#000000"><font face="Tahoma">Fuzzy logic is a particular area of concentration in the study of artificial intelligence and is based on the value of that information which is neither definitely true nor false. Fuzzy logic seems to be well suited to the nonlinear world of chemical process control. Such techniques allow automated systems to perform analysis and consider behaviors in more human and flexible ways.<br />
The main objective of this project is to study the characteristics of the fuzzy control, and to have an understanding of both theory and practice processes of fuzzy control. At the beginning of this project the concept and history of fuzzy system was studied very carefully. From the literatures it was realized that different structures were used in the fuzzy controller; fuzzification, defuzzification and rule base. Each unit has its own techniques in order to operate the fuzzy control at the desired conditions safely and efficiently.<br />
Following the study of fuzzy concepts and structures, a simulation was carried out using fuzzy control for two different processes; level system and pH_neutralisation in waste water treatment plant,  this enable  to investigate the results and compare them with results from others traditional controllers.<br />
 The simulation study investigates how different types of rule bases fuzzy logic control work on this processes. Fuzzy control system has been implemented based on system model. Mamdani model was used for the modeling of both processes. According to the type of the membership function to be chosen in the simulink, the process operators could enter their personal preferences for the membership curves. The results don’t differ very much from one to another, but a few rules of thumb apply. A term set should be sufficiently wide to allow for noise in the measurement. A certain amount of overlap is desirable; otherwise the controller may run into poorly defined states, where it does not return a well defined output.<br />
The results were very successful and accurate comparing with others conventional controller such as PID, PI. A very fast response and stable operation have been observed. In case of pH process, fuzzy controller shows the most remarkable result of maintaining the output pH to 7±1which is the acceptable pH level for waste water.<br />
 <br />
 As a result from the work in this project, it was realized that if this fuzzy interpretation is correct and if the fuzzy theory works, then one should be able to solve the real-world control problems, because a control system based on fuzzy logic has many advantages as, it is easy to implement since it uses &quot;if-then&quot; logic instead of sophisticated differential equations; also it understands by people who do not have process control backgrounds. The fuzzy modeling techniques, fuzzy logic inference and decision-making and fuzzy control methods should all work for controlling problems – if they are developed correctly and appropriately.<br />

In the first step of separation, HPLC process was used but the results that was achieved does not agreed with the results in the literature survey. The suitable solvent for the separation between the limonin and the other materials in the bitter orange seeds are detected by TLC processes and it was found that a mixture of Methanol and Ethyl acetate with ratio 0.5:9.5 is good eluant in this process<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div><font color="#000000"><font face="Tahoma">Ya'bad has been suffering from environmental pollution as a result of charcoal industry. This industry is located in the western part of the town at Zabda Street.Environmental impacts of charcoal occur at each step of its life-cycle, which includes feedstock supply, pyrolises of wood and charcoal usage.<br />
 <br />
The main objective of this project which is performed on the period of two semesters is to minimize air pollution occurs during charcoal production in Ya'bad by designing a kiln prototype to produce charcoal with at least same quality of charcoal produced by traditional method but with possibilities to mitigate air pollutants problem.<br />
 <br />
The project was commenced by collecting data about the charcoal production situation in Ya'bad including the method proceeded and the environmental impacts of charcoal production. In addition to that other charcoal production practices in other countries were studied to be aware of this industry. Then a prototype kiln was designed in order to study many parameters in charcoal production in order to obtain the best conditions required to produce charcoal and minimize the pollutants emitted during production particularly, nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide. A combustion analyzer model 300 device was used to measure the concentrations of mentioned components.<br />
 <br />
Carrying out this project, the following results were found:-<br />
&amp;Oslash;  Charcoal production in Ya'bad is an important industry sector there but it has a considerable negative effect on the environment.<br />
 <br />
&amp;Oslash;  The main air pollutants emitted during production are green-house-gases, tars, volatile organic compounds and particulate matter.<br />
 <br />
&amp;Oslash;  The designed prototype kiln was tested and some problems were found so attempts were done to find the appropriate design and to have the desired performance.<br />
 <br />
&amp;Oslash;  Analysis of the produced charcoal from the designed prototype kiln was found to be of an acceptable quality. This includes:-<br />
ü  A moisture values  range between 2-5%<br />
ü  Ash content was between 2-5%<br />
ü  Volatile matter content in the range of 12-21%<br />
ü  Fixed carbon 72-81%<br />
ü  Heating value 23000-31000 KJ/Kg<br />
 <br />
&amp;Oslash;  For a feedback about the produced charcoal questionnaire was prepared and distributed. Consequently, People main feedback about charcoal produced from citrus wood was of a convenient quality  in comparison to the one produced from olive wood which has some problems such as:-<br />
§ fast quenching<br />
§ in some occasions has bad smell, and<br />
§ more ash content.<br />
 <br />
&amp;Oslash;  Tar collecting technique using a tank containing water was tested and an amount of tar was gathered.<br />
 <br />
&amp;Oslash;  Minimizing the pollutants produced from carbonization of wood was done  using a tank containing NaOH solution of 0.1M resulted in a decrease in the emissions concentrations in the following percentage:<br />
 <br />
ü  Nitrogen oxides  46.0%<br />
ü  Sulfur dioxide  22.9%<br />
ü  Carbon monoxide  9.6%<br />
ü  Carbon dioxide  13.5%<br />
