The History of a Skyscrapers
The history of skyscrapers began in the late 1800s when Williams Jenny built the 7-story home insurance company in 1855.These are the information that are recorded in most books and websites. But while the authors searching for their study ,they find an interesting thing about the history of skyscrapers. They found that the oldest skyscraper is Arabian exactly in Yemen , in Shibam city.Shibam city was established before more than five hundreds years ago. It is the city of cities as most of its citizens said. Its skyscrapers starts from 7 floors and reach 16 really. This city indicate that Arab can build miracle if it will be available ,the means of architecture, because the have a wonderful and genus capability in construction ,as shown in theFigure
Petronas Twin Towers
“I was thinking then how much I wish I could live in a place where I could show my family ,that’s what I built.” This is the words of Petronas Towers project manager explaining why he felt so fortunate to be part of the towers project management team. Before that, he'd been building offshore platforms in Sarawak. Petronas the Malaysian dream which became to reality .Before more than 20 years ,Malaysia was a poor country but this country decide to be an industrial country with in 10 years. It was a big challenge for it to start from scratch ,but they reach their dream and now it is in the list of the biggest industrial countries in the World.
Petronas Twin Towers was to be the challenge of the century. Not only to become the tallest building in the World ,but to two of them side by side – this would be a
feat never attempted before.
The Architect
The architect is Cesar Pelli , the World famous architect and the founder of the firm of Cesar Pelli and Associates

Facts about Petronas
Petronas is 452 meter above the street level. It is made up of 88 storeies.The storeies up to 73rd are identical in shape and design. This part of construction is the easiest one to complete. It was covered by 65,000 square meters of stainless steel and by 77,000 square meters of vision glass. Concrete used in superstructure reach 160,000 cubic meters and 13,200 cubic meters in foundation. The remarkable features in Petronas are

• Building Control System and Building Security System

Petronas Versus Sears Towers
Although Sears Tower is taller than Petronas but the World chose Petronas to be the tallest building in the World. So why is that? , the reason is because of Petronas spires .Why? because according to architectural principals ,spires are nice to look at ,not antennas as in Sears Tower. Architects not only design a building to stand ,they deign them to look good as well. As shown in the figure

Construction of Petronas
The construction of Petronas took a long time to complete as well as it took many complicated steps. The construction Process comprised of foundation , superstructure (construction of the two towers) and the skybridge.
The Foundation
The foundation took one whole year to complete. Every of preparing the foundation was a technological breakthrough. It composed of a thick raft containing thousands in cubic meters of reinforced concrete and supported by a huge number of piles differ in their lengths. See the figure

Twin Towers Construction (Superstructure)
Building the two towers required both concrete and steel The workforce needed to complete the project , Petronas reached thousands workers. It took 25 months and a week to complete the first tower while the second tower took 24 months. The use of new technology included the first-ever GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) system used in the country to calculate the accuracy of the towers' vertical height. Computer technology which integrated and coordinated the mechanical, electrical and structural architectural drawings was also used.
The Assembly of the Skybridge
The amazing thing about Petronas which it make different from any skyscraper in the World is the skybridge. The skybridge located at level 41 and 42 which connected the two towers. The skybridge was pre-assembled into 5 main components comprising the :two legs, the two end blocks and the center section , which is assembled at a concourse level. The skybridge was fabricated and assembled by Samsung Heavy Industries of South Korea , as shown in the figure
